200 Hour Certified
I have been practicing yoga since 2016. I am passionate about teaching proper alignment to ensure safety and protection so the yoga can do what it’s supposed to do: connect you to your breath, clear the mind, settle you into the body and ultimately bring you back to your center. I believe this practice is intended to be with you for life. It is my mission to promote safety and alignment so that you can practice and live in your fullest expression, on and off of the mat.
A note to my teachers:
One of my most profound teachers that I had the pleasure of studying under, Deborah Koehn, truly walks the talk of a yogi. Deborah is a certified yoga therapist and has been teaching yoga for over 50 years. Her studies began in college after being introduced to topics such as Mantra, Meditation and Asana. Since then, her knowledge and way of life has been accumulated from studying under many senior Iyengar teachers, to living and integrating with Shamans deep in the Peruvian mountains, to attending dinner parties and conversing with the Dalai Lama and so much more. And while her accolades are incredibly impressive, what I find most inspirational about Deborah is her true embodiment of these practices and the purity of heart in which she leads with. The presence and wisdom that she emanates is unmatched. She holds as a true inspiration in my yogic studies and way of living.
Alongside Deborah, I have been fortunate to study and learn from some of the best yoga teachers in San Diego. The yoga community here is strong and powerful, and I am grateful to each and every one of my teachers. They have taught me everything that I know and have helped me in making my practice what it is today. I also come from a family of yoga instructors and practitioners. Our idea of quality time is going to class or discussing the latest teaching on meditation and mindset. There was no escaping this destiny.
My Journey to Becoming a Yoga Teacher
Enrolling in a Teacher Training is something that has been constantly dropped into my awareness ever since I landed on my mat in 2016. My older siblings had recently begun teaching when I started practicing, so it seemed like the obvious choice from everyone around me to nudge me in the teaching direction. And while I am grateful for the support, I wouldn’t budge. I never even considered it. I loved being a student. I expected that eventually I would enroll in a training, if not to just learn more about the practice, but it would be on my time and under my conditions. And the wait all made perfect sense when I found myself on the Big Island of Hawaii at the beginning of 2023.
This immersive intensive is something that I am still digesting, and I imagine it will continue to be something that I pull and learn from for many years to come. I discovered a newfound connection to Nature and the yoga practice that will forever remain inseparable. My teacher, Deborah Kohen, walks the talk of a true Yogi and is an inspiration for what it means to live peacefully and authentically. I am eternally grateful to have and to continue to learn from someone as inspiring as her, as well as all of my incredible teachers along the way who have shown me all that I know about the practice thus far. The teaching and learning of yoga is endless, a limitless art… 😉
